Erik started his martial arts career early as child and was pulled back into it full force with the emergence of the UFC. He began serious training at the age of 19. He spent almost two years training with Carlson Gracie Jr, lived and trained in Brazil at the famous Gracie Barra Academy. He achieved the rank of black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2006 from Renzo Gracie and John Danaher. Erik has also trained at the Fairtex Muai Thai training camp to work on his fighting skills.

Erik and Georges have been training together and sparring since Georges began preparing for his fight at UFC 58. George asked Erik if he would share his wealth of training experience with others. Together GSP and Erik collaborated to create GSP RUSHFIT. A complete MMA-style conditioning program.

Erik himself has competed in 5 professional mixed martial arts fights in the International Fight League. Erik continues to focus on improving his skills and has recently established his own MMA gym – Mushin in NYC where he continues to teach and train today.

Georges "Rush" St-Pierre (also referred to as “GSP”) is a Canadian professional mixed martial artist and MMA world champion and legend who holds black belts in both Kyokushin Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Georges also trains in additional disciplines such as boxing, wrestling and Muay Thai.

While St-Pierre is known for his strategic approach when developing his game plans for his opponents, it is not the first priority in his training.

GSP’s MMA training philosophy is constructed like a pyramid: First he sets a solid foundation of conditioning, then second he works on and elevates his technical fighting skills, and finally when these structural elements are mastered he works on the specific strategy for his next fight.
